Why Counselling?
Life can be complicated and challenging, especially when our relationships are out of balance.
Relationship stress makes it hard to thrive in other areas of our life.
At Heart and Mind, I provide a supportive and non-judgmental space where you can come on your own,
with your partner or spouse, or with members of your family.
Together, we will work to understand how negative patterns and hurts have emerged,
and how you can overcome them by learning to listen
and respond to what each other really needs and longs for.
My goal is to help you find new ways of relating, restoring intimacy and trust,
and ultimately improving the quality of your life.
1.
Individual Counselling
Individual counselling is a place you can come on your own to be heard and understood, without judgment. Individual counselling can help you with your own issues or where relationship issues
are impacting your life.
Our wellbeing suffers when our relationships (work, partner, family) are under threat or stressed. Sometimes we experience worry,
anxiety, depression,
or unrelenting rumination.
Strategies can be developed to bring about positive change, healing, taking responsibility for what you are responsible for and being at peace with what you can't change.
2.
Couples Counselling
Couples counselling is where you and your partner/spouse come together to a build stronger and healthier relationship.
Whether you just need help with communication over difficult issues and areas of conflicts or whether you have some deep seated negative patterns from decades of missing each other. We all long for intimate relationships where we are known and loved: a safe place that we look forward to coming home to.
3.
Relationship Counselling
Relationship counselling is where you can come with member/s of your family.
We will work through misunderstandings, conflicts, hurts, and challenges or blocks you are facing in your relating.
We will help you facilitate the conversations you want or need to have in a safe
and controlled space.
Parenting is challenging. Come together as a couple to receive help with your role: learning how to put in boundaries, achieve better connection and communication with your children.
4.
Pre-marital Counselling
Preparing for marriage is an important step in any relationship. The pre-marital counselling service provides you and your partner with the tools and strategies to build a strong foundation for a lasting and fulfilling marriage by considering and communicating over all areas of your future life together.
About Kay
Kia ora
My name is Kay. I'm a counsellor based in Christchurch.
I have been married for 31 years, raised and homeschooled four children with my husband Keith. After a career in education,
I retrained as a counsellor and specialised in
Emotionally Focused couple and family therapy (EFT)
I believe that there is little of greater importance than living in right relationship: with ourselves, our partner, our family, our community.
I understand how we long to be understood and loved
by the important people in our lives
but sometimes we struggle to achieve this.
I would be honoured to work with you to improve the quality of your relationships and your life.

"Kay asked me at the start of each session what I wanted to talk about and work on and made sure to stick to this throughout the session, checking in during the session to make sure we stayed on track.
I came away feeling better after each session and with the results I was looking for."
Rochelle
"The thing I appreciated the most was how you listened to me. It truly was a gift of grace to be heard and listened to intentionally. You are compassionate, wise and understanding.
I really sensed your care during our sessions"
